Shrawani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from VIIT in India. She has prior experience with language-based models and is passionate about  integrating data science and machine learning for a variety of applications. 

Shraawani Lattoo
Shraawani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from SPPU in India. She has prior internship experience with building machine learning models for object detection and driver monitoring. Shraawani is interested in opportunities integrating data analysis with foundational methodologies in data science for a variety of application areas. 

Gaurav Mehta
Gaurav earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from KJ Somaiya College of Engineering in India. He is passionate about leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to solve real-world problems. Proficient in Python and SQL, he also has a strong foundation in data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI. During his internship, Gaurav worked on an LLM-based project, which further deepened his interest in the practical applications of large language models. He is interested in opportunities in Data Engineering and Data Science, with a particular focus on AI and large language model (LLM) applications.

Hannah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Statistics & Analytics from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is open to opportunities in any area of data science, especially those involving medical or biological data.

Lasya Banka
Lasya earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from VIT in India. With over 3.5 years at Deloitte USI supporting Technology Risk and Controls Assurance, she developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking, data interpretation, and quantitative problem-solving. Leveraging experience in IT system audits and control evaluations, she is building expertise in statistical analysis, data visualization, and predictive modeling. Lasya is passionate about applying data science techniques to transform raw data into actionable insights, improving risk management, audit effectiveness, and compliance processes. She looks forward to combining her domain knowledge and technical skills to drive innovation and data-driven decision-making in her future roles.

Kaleigh Benesch
Kaleigh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics (with a minor in economics) from Western Carolina University, where she also completed a graduate certificate in data science. She currently works full-time in local government for the City of Asheville. Kaleigh is passionate about applying her skills in the environmental sector including water, soil and GIS applications.

Javi Brito
Javi earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Meredith College with a minor in Data Science. She was also a Division III student athlete and held an internship at Technology Services on campus. She has prior experience implementing and developing LLM agents for machine learning tasks.

Ralph Church
Ralph holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from NC State and works full-time as a Software Engineer at Platinum Technologies. Here, he develops full stack applications using Angular, .NET, SQL Server, and Python, building and optimizing data-driven systems that support enterprise operations. Ralph is seeking opportunities in data science and software engineering that will enable him to apply his skills in Python, statistics, and computational modeling to develop data-driven solutions.

Madhu Gopinath
Madhu earned her Bachelor’s degree, double-majoring in Computer Science and Statistics & Analytics, from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has experience building ML and statistical models, and with developing full-stack applications using FastAPI, React, PostgreSQL and OpenShift. Madhu is interested in roles centered around model building and data analytics in the healthcare sector.

Grace Haley
Grace holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from NC State. She works full-time as a portfolio engineer at ACT Power Services, where she oversees large data streams from solar energy sites. Grace is passionate about opportunities integrating her knowledge of mathematics and computer science with data analysis, cloud service platforms, cryptography or cybersecurity. 

Amal Joshy
Amal earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from UNC Charlotte. His background encompasses a wide range of coursework in computer science, statistics, and database management. Amal is interested in pursuing a career in data analytics, where he can apply his skills in mathematical modeling and data visualization to address complex data challenges in the technology or healthcare industries.

Arsalaan Khan
Arsalaan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from NC State and works full-time at Cisco as a Site Reliability Engineer on an automation team. As a MSFDS student, he is interested in gaining knowledge and skills in machine learning and its applications for handling large amounts of data.

Alek Mieczkowski
Alek earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UNC-Charlotte and works full-time as a Software Engineer on the GDPS team at IBM. In his role at IBM, he specializes in Mainframe Security and the GDPS Continuous Availability offering which involves massive amounts of data. As a MSFDS student, Alek aims to gain knowledge and skills that will help him leverage AI to enhance capabilities for automated response, cyber threat detection and disaster recovery in mainframe and HPC environments.

Piyush Patil
Piyush holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from UNC Charlotte. He has a strong foundation in computer science supported by extensive experience in data analysis, machine learning and intelligent systems. He also has experience with reinforcement learning, web scraping, and full-stack application development. Piyush is interested in opportunities involving large-scale data processing, scientific computing, or API development for analytical platforms.

Joe Pottern
Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics with minors in Statistics and Physics from NC State. His rigorous and intensive coursework in applied and computational mathematics and statistics is complemented by extensive tutoring experience at the K-12 and undergraduate levels. Joe is interested in data science and ML research and applications in actuarial science, with additional preferences for applications involving physical and sociological phenomenon.

Maggie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University and an MBA in Analytics from American Military University. A former U.S. Air Force officer with 1,100 flight hours, she brings a decade of leadership and technical expertise in government and defense operations. She has leveraged data science to drive strategic decision-making and process optimization in the healthcare industry, translating complex data into actionable insights. Maggie is passionate about data-driven problem solving and eager to contribute to research institutes, academia, or organizations at the forefront of scientific and technological discovery.
